Trivikram Ras is a classical Rasashastra formulation traditionally used in the Ayurvedic management of urinary calculi and gravel (Ashmari), valued for its diuretic and stone-clearing properties.
Trivikram Ras is a classical Rasashastra formulation described in the Sharangdhara Samhita, prepared by processing Tamra Bhasma (purified copper ash) with goat milk, purified mercury, and purified sulphur, further triturated with Nirgundi (Vitex negundo) juice.
It is traditionally indicated in the Ayurvedic management of Ashmari (urinary calculi and gravel), where it is valued for its Bhedana (fragmenting) and Mutrala (diuretic) properties that support the natural passage of urinary stones.
In Ayurveda, Ashmari (urinary calculi) is understood to form when aggravated Kapha and Vata dosha cause mineral salts in the urine to crystallize and accumulate within the urinary tract.
Trivikram Ras is classically prepared by first reducing Tamra Bhasma in goat milk, then combining it with purified mercury and sulphur, and finally triturating the mass with Nirgundi juice extract until tablets are formed, following the method described in the Sharangdhara Samhita.
This combination is traditionally believed to exert a Bhedana (fragmenting) action on existing calculi while its Mutrala property increases urine volume, helping to flush smaller stones and gravel through the urinary tract.
The sole active ingredient — classically purified and calcined chalcopyrite ore, referenced in the Rasa Tarangini and other classical texts for its Rasayana and Balya (strength-promoting) properties.
