Shankh Vati is a classical Ayurvedic formulation built around Shankha Bhasma (purified conch shell ash), combined with Hingu (asafoetida), Trikatu, and other carminative herbs, triturated with lemon juice, as described in texts such as the Bhaishajya Ratnavali.

It is traditionally indicated for Ajirna (indigestion), Amlapitta (hyperacidity), Agnimandya (weak digestion), and associated gas, bloating, and abdominal pain arising from Vata-Kapha imbalance.

Classically used to relieve indigestion (Ajirna) and support healthy digestive fire (Agni)
Traditionally valued for its antacid-like action, helping to soothe hyperacidity and heartburn
Used in classical practice for gas, bloating, and colicky abdominal pain
Shankha Bhasma is traditionally regarded as calcium-rich, buffering excess stomach acid
Believed to improve appetite and support healthy assimilation of food

In Ayurveda, indigestion and hyperacidity are classically attributed to weakened Agni allowing Ama to form, together with Vata-Kapha imbalance disturbing normal gut function.

Shankh Vati is classically prepared by finely triturating purified Shankha Bhasma with Hingu, Trikatu (ginger, black pepper, long pepper), and rock salt, grinding the mixture with lemon juice until tablets can be formed, following traditional Rasashastra methods.

Its mineral-rich, mildly alkaline composition is traditionally believed to neutralize excess acid and soothe the gut lining, while its carminative herbs help expel trapped gas and rekindle Agni to relieve indigestion.

Kajjali (Purified Mercury-Sulphur Compound)

The classical base of many Rasa Shastra formulations, traditionally described as Krimighna and Rasayana when properly processed and purified.

Tamra Bhasma (Purified Copper Ash)

A traditional Rasashastra ingredient classically used for its Kapha-Ama clearing and lymphatic-supportive properties.

Vanga Bhasma (Purified Tin Ash)

Classically included in formulations for glandular and metabolic disorders for its traditional Kapha-pacifying action.

Haritaki (Terminalia chebula)

Used in classical preparation as a Tridosha-balancing decoction base, traditionally regarded as Rasayana and digestive-supportive.
